Christina is Having a Baby Girl!

Christina is a dear friend of mine whom I love to bits! She's one of those people that can always make me laugh and I absolutely love spending time with her. Christina is expecting her second child (a girl!) in August and if this little bundle is half as cute as her first baby girl I'm sure she will be gorgeous.

A few weeks ago we had a gorgeous day and decided to head out to Rainbow Haven beach just before sunset to capture a few pics of her and her baby belly. We are planning a few more maternity sessions before August so I'm sure I'll be posting more images to share in the near future.

Thanks for a great evening of picture taking Christina! I'm looking forward to our upcoming sessions and I hope you like the sneak peek :)

Gillian & Kris Engagement Photo Session

Gillian and Kris are getting married next month and if their engagement session is any indication of how much fun their wedding is going to be I can't wait!! They were a lot of fun to photograph and up for anything:) Gill and Kris informed me before their session that they may look a little stiff in front of the camera and were not very photogenic... I think that they were lying to me and have done this before. What do you think?

Thanks for a great session guys! It is obvious that you are perfect for each other and completely in love :) I'm really looking forward to your wedding!!

Baby "A" is One Year Old!

I hope that you're ready for a ton of photos! I had the pleasure of photographing little baby "A" on the exact day that she turned one year old. She was so much fun to photograph and definitely kept me on my toes following her around throughout the whole session :) She is completely adorable and I couldn't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than with a little one full of energy in front of my camera. Have I mentioned before that I LOVE my job?

Happy Birthday To Me!

My birthday will officially be over in a few minutes as I write this post. I turned the big 30 today and honestly don't feel any different than I did yesterday. I remember when I was a kid I thought that 30 was so old, but now that the big milestone is here I find it really hard to believe that I'm actually 30. I still feel like such a kid at times! I will say that I have learned a lot in my short 30 years. There have been plenty of ups and downs in my life so far that I feel have prepared me for whatever is to come.

I had a great day today. The sun was shining as I drove to a friends house to take some pics of her little boy (such a cutie!) and to hang out for a bit. I received a ton of birthday wishes from friends and family...thank you! For the most part I had a pretty relaxed and low-key day.

Ian surprised me with an iPod as my birthday gift!

I have been wanting one for a while and quickly filled it up with music from my iTunes library. I draw a lot of inspiration from music. Aside from photography, music has been a huge love in my life ever since I was a kid. I love to sing at the top of my lungs in my car on warm Summer days with the windows rolled down. At home I attempt to play the guitar but I prefer to have someone else play while I sing:) I even did the whole Canadian Idol thing a few years ago and made it quite far (but I'll save that story for another post). I love how certain music can take you back to a specific time or place. I love that music has the ability to stir emotions. I just plain old love music and can't imagine it not being a part of my every day life.

What have I been listening to lately? A better question would be "What don't I listen to?" For those of you interested, the following are a few songs already loaded on my new iPod and in my "favorites" list.

I have been shooting a lot lately and will have tons of photos to share soon! I apologize for being such a bad blogger and hope to post more often in the future. For now, I invite you to check out some of my favorite music from which I draw inspiration daily. I would love to hear what you are all listening to! I am always interested in checking out new music so share some of your faves in the comments!!

Anjuli Patil Portrait Photo Session

Have I mentioned before that I love my job? Well I do! Not just because I love photography or that I love being my own boss....I love my job because I have clients like Anjuli. Anjuli is a return client and I haven't seen her since last year. It was so great to be able to reconnect with her and spend some time taking her picture, laughing with her and having a great time. Anjuli is so full of energy and is such a sweetheart. Her smile is absolutely infectious! Being an actress, Anjuli is completely comfortable in front of the camera and such a joy to photograph.

Thank you so much for a fun filled morning Anjuli! I'm looking forward to photographing you again in the future :)

Laurence Dewolfe Portrait Photography Session

I was contacted by Laurence a few weeks ago and he informed me that he was looking at having a few photos taken of himself. Laurence required a head shot for his employer and he wanted something a little bit different than a standard head shot. As soon as I read that he wanted something different I knew that this session would be right up my alley. We met and discussed session options and decided pretty much right away that the session should take place outdoors. I absolutely love doing portrait sessions outdoors in natural light! Laurence also informed me during our meeting that this would be a good time for him to have some natural photos taken of himself at this point in time. He has been making a lot of changes in his life (getting in shape, going to the gym etc.) and what better way to document this than with a few photos!

We met early one chilly morning at the park and I started firing off frames of Laurence just being himself in various environments. The lighting was perfect and we shared a few good laughs during our time together.

I always suggest to clients that they should bring a few changes of clothes to their session to add a variety of looks to their images. Laurence chose his wardrobe selections perfectly! Starting out in a dressier outfit for the portrait for his employer, Laurence changed his outfit a few times as we worked and he ended up with a good variety of images to choose from in the end. These images are a good example of the amount of different looks that are possible in one session.

Thank you for a wonderful portrait session Laurence!

Trash the Dress and Portrait Photography Session

I do not normally enjoy crawling out of bed at 5:30am to start my day. But when I'm getting up that early to head out for a photo session it's different. My assistant (Ian Young), makeup artist (Lina Hussein) and I drove to Kingston, Nova Scotia for a photo session with the beautiful Kristina Kozera. We planned on doing some "trash the dress" wedding images and standard portraits of Kristina with a few different makeup looks and wardrobe changes. The hours passed quickly and we ran out of time to do some of the shots that we had planned, but we ended up with some great images that I really like. I only have a few edited images to share so far but there will be more soon! I also snapped a lot of behind the scenes images which I will be sharing soon. We are planning a second shoot for the near future to try out some of the other ideas that we had and I'm really looking forward to it. Kingston is absolutely beautiful and we found so many locations to work with during this session for our next one.

Thank you Ian, Lina and Kristina for all of your hard work on these images. It was such a pleasure to work with all of you and I'm really looking forward to our next session. Also, a big thanks to Debbie for all of the jewelry that Kristina is wearing in the images. Debbie's beautiful handmade beaded jewelry really finished off the outfits and the look that we were striving for. As soon as Debbie has a website up and running I will post a link. I'm sure that you'll all want to buy some of her jewelry!
